The Ramblings of
a Scooterboy
Ride 1 - Home and Abroad

The first in a trilogy of scooter travel books, Home and Abroad invites the reader to jump onto the pillion seat on a journey along the winding country roads of England, before crossing the Channel to take a scenic route through France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
A vintage machine of any sort is never the easy option, but the challenge of coaxing a classic Lambrettas to travel way beyond its intended limit is there to be accepted and relished. This choice of transport has its own particular demands, but loaded up to the gunnels with spares, tools, a few changes of underwear and a dose of good luck, the miles are soaked up on a mission to reach the destination and live my scootering life to the full. With some preparation and a plan, if somewhat basic, and always ready to ‘wing it’ at any time, if that is what it takes to achieve the goal.
So, take a seat, put your feet up and feel the wind in your face as you join in on these two-wheeled ramblings, down into valleys and high up into mountains. Follow the road ahead from the comfort of your favourite armchair, where it does not matter if you have forgotten your waterproofs or if the fuel tank is near to running dry.
Just read and ride!
